The Admissions Counselor is responsible for representing the College of Education and Human Development both on- and off-campus to prospective students with a primary emphasis on graduate student recruitment, admissions counseling, and outreach. This position is responsible for coordinating and contributing to the success of various student visit programs designed to recruit targeted prospective applicants to the College. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least two years of experience preferably in admissions or student services in a higher education setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to conduct targeted communications with prospective students from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Ability to lead individual and group informational sessions.
  • Ability to directly interact with students, faculty and administrators demanding intensive concentration and excellent listening skills.
  • Must demonstrate high-level of attention to detail, critical thinking, problem- solving, and ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.
  • Must prioritize well and focus on completion of tasks and objectives in a fast- paced and dynamic environment.
  • Must demonstrate competence with and ability to effectively use computers, Microsoft applications, related software, and data systems.
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive and objective customer service approach and attitude even when confronted with difficult, highly emotional students/parents as well as advising and counseling situations.
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to travel both locally and nationally and transport student recruitment materials to locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
  • Must be able to participate in various recruitment programs that may require sitting and/or standing for several hours at a time.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience using Banner
  • Experience using an enrollment management customer relationship management (CRM) system such as Ellucian Recruiter

This position requires a background check.

This position requires Child Abuse Certifications prior to the commencement of service.

This position is a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
