USC's School of Cinematic Arts Office of Student Services is seeking an Assistant Director of Student Affairs to join its team. This position will provide academic advising for undergraduate students enrolled at the School of Cinematic Arts. They will serve as lead on several signature events and student support program initiatives. The position will also work directly with our Student Organizations in building community and coordinating their events and programming. They will serve as a liaison with the Registrar and will also provide support where needed in admissions processing.
Job Accountabilities:
- Provides guidance and leadership to Student Services Advisors and Student Workers in providing student services.
- Provides academic advising for undergraduate students. Advises on matters of curriculum, course and degree requirements, graduation counseling and course clearances.
- Advises students on degree tracks and professional goals, providing career information where appropriate and refers students to faculty and SCA Industry Relations.
- Assess targeted student or group needs and recommends programs or services. Execute student engagement programs, academic support and advisement services and events such as orientation, commencement, new student welcome, and transitional and support programs.
- Plans, develops or modifies, implements, communicates and evaluates program services, activities, and special events accordingly to ensure efficacy and understanding.
- Monitors student progress, tracks course enrollment, retention, graduation rates and time to degree completion. Maintains and compiles statistical data. Prepares reports for internal and external use.
- Evaluates student problems, academic, administrative, or personal, and refers student to appropriate student services office for additional counseling. Liaises with other offices on behalf of students to facilitate problem resolution.
- Maintains academic unit student records and coordinates registration activities, degree progress, enrollment and degree verification, grading, and transcripts.
- Maintains currency on USC and SCA policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to admissions and student affairs.
- Assists in the processing of Admissions Applications and Files and in Admissions events and programming as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves to the right to add or change duties at any time.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years within higher education.
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Previous experience in media arts education/administration or familiarity with media arts communities
