FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Political Science and Global Affairs (PSGA) at the College of Staten Island seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Lecturer position in Political Theory. Expertise in a related subfield, such as American Politics, Public Law, Race, Ethnicity and Politics; Gender and Politics; or Environmental Policy, is a plus. The successful candidate will be able to teach basic courses in Political Theory (Ancient; Modern; Contemporary). There is no expectation for research or publications.

The Doctoral Lecturer performs teaching and related faculty functions in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Position begins in Fall 2023.

The teaching load for a Lecturer under our collective bargaining agreement is 24 credit-hours. CSI offers both 3- and 4-credit classes, so the typical annual teaching load for lecturers ranges from 3-3 to 3-4.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

A Ph.D. in political science is preferred. ABD candidates are welcome to apply, however degree must be conferred at time of semester appointment - Fall 2023. Also required are the willingness to participate in service, as well as a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

COMPENSATION

$64,491 - $79,808
