General Description:

The Student Service Associate is the initial contact with students seeking entry into the college and with existing students seeking services. The Associate will provide guidance and direction; therefore she/he must be fully familiar with every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides direction, process overview and information to students, parents, and others regarding: the College admission process, registration, financial aid, student account functions, College programs, activities and student services. Provides referrals for the Americans with Disabilities Act and other special needs.

Monitors services and flows of traffic in the Student Development One Stop Centers.

Performs cashiering function as well as clerical tasks including (but not limited to) heavy telephone and in person inquiry, preparing correspondence and mailings, data input, filing reports, scanning of documents, opening and distribution of mail.

Responsible for the review and correct payment processing, posting of account charges and payments, processing tuition waivers, resolving account inquiries, and receiving documentation from special billing type students.

Supports Student Service Generalists and Specialists in performance of their duties as it relates to programming (i.e.: Financial Aid Literacy workshops, New Student Orientation).

Support the testing center for proctoring of classroom tests, administration of CLEP , and ESL testing, as well as other associated tests.

Ability to exercise impeccable customer service skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students and College community. Must be able to service multiple students at once.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements:

Associate degree required.

Experience:

Minimum of one (1) year of office & customer service experience.

Minimum of one (1) year of office & customer service experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work may require long periods of standing.

No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

Some travel required.
