*The Opportunity:*
Under the general supervision of the Director, Center for International Programs and Services, is responsible for managing and providing immigration and visa-related service functions while ensuring compliance with federal regulations and reporting requirements. The position holder provides front-line support and guidance to international students, scholars, and exchange visitors throughout the visa and work authorization application process to ensure campus and federal regulatory compliance. The Assistant Director serves as an ARO for the ERAU J-1 exchange visitor program, and student advisor for F-1 immigration benefits such as Curricular and Optional Practical Training and supports the Director as DSO for the ERAU Prescott F-1 visa program.
This position is temporary with the possibility of Full-Time employment.
*Job Responsibilities*
• Interpret F-1 and J-1 visa regulations to ensure compliance, and provide counseling and advising support to international students and scholars on immigration related matters, and other support issues
• Assist students to obtain F-1/J-1 immigration benefits such as CPT/OPT /STEM extensions and Academic Training as outlined in the regulations, and process I-20s and DS-2019s as required
• Serve as a resource on immigration regulations, policies and practices to faculty and staff
• Assist with immigration check in and SEVIS registration
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and presentation of specialized workshops and programs, and in designing and updating handouts, forms, presentations, and the CIPS ERNIE site and website.
• Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 Students and Assistant Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 students and visiting faculty-
• Maintain student records in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and Terra Dotta databases.
• Advise international students on complex U.S. immigration regulations and procedures related to employment, travel, change of status and reporting.
• Coordinate and plan programs that support the social and academic integration of F-1 students to enhance student retention.
• Connect students with campus resources to support their academic success (tutoring, advising, counseling, academic departments etc.)
• Oversee maintenance of student files to ensure accurate record keeping, including creating new files in a timely manner and maintain consistency between Campus Solutions, Terra Dotta and SEVIS.
• Provide international student program planning, international student association coordination, including assisting with new student orientation, International Education Week, the annual International Festival, etc.
• Prepare reports on enrollment, retention and other areas of interest to CIPS and Enrollment Management.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned

*Secondary Job Functions and Duties: *

* Reviews, analyzes and stays current with federal regulations and procedures affecting international students and scholars.
* Research, recommend, communicate, and implement appropriate policies and procedures that support students with maintaining their immigration and academic status.
* Participate in professional development opportunities on-campus and off-campus with the approval of supervisor.
* Demonstrated ability to provide effective services for diverse populations
* Provide immigration documents to and file immigration benefit applications for the university’s international students and scholars.
* Some budgeting procedures and responsibilities as assigned by the director.
* Contacts Registrar regarding visa issues that may affect registration.
* This position will need to have access to the secure and sensitive student data both in SEVIS, Terra Dotta, and the CMS.
* Assists CIPS Director with strategic planning, marketing strategies, content development and campus outreach
