Wilmington College is seeking applicants for the position of Admissions Counselor in our Admissions Office on our main campus in Wilmington, Ohio. The is a full time, exempt level position reporting to the Sr. Director of Admissions.

The Admissions Counselor is responsible for leading prospective students through the admission, financial aid, and class registration processes in order to matriculate at Wilmington College. Tasks included, but are not limited to, territorial travel to high schools and college fairs, attending recruiting events on and off campus, processing admission and financial aid files, telecounseling, interviewing prospective students and families and constructing fall class schedules.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide maximum customer service to prospective students, families
  • Interviews prospective student (and family)
  • Processes admission files
  • 24-hour turnaround timeframe
  • Reviews for completeness, requesting needed documents
  • Enters appropriate data entry
  • Determines eligibility for scholarships and issues award notices.
  • Conducts follow up and counsels in financial aid
  • Conducts "packcalls" to follow up on financial aid awards sent within a week of the phone call
  • Learns verification process and counsel students and families on how verification may affect their financial aid
  • Conducts financial aid appointments
  • Makes financial aid presentations at high schools
  • Visits high schools and attends college fair programs
  • Attends admission events on and off campus
  • Makes presentations at campus events
  • Takes part in Saturday office coverage
  • Manages recruiting territory by telecounseling, email, or direct mail correspondence.

  • Coordinates the recruitment of PSEO students
  • Conducts all PSEO interviews with students and parent
  • Reviews all PSEO files
  • Schedules and coordinates PSEO registration
  • Completes state forms needed and communicates enrollment to Student Accounts Manager
  • Collects used text books at the end of each term and processes reimbursement to Student Financial Services
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Admission.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, plus at least one year of responsible related experience. Previous experience in student admission helpful.
  • Evidence of excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively across cultures with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, including effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize in a multi-task work environment.
  • Good computer skills with background using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Willingness to travel for recruitment events.
  • Familiarity with private higher education preferred.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as work load dictates.
