Wilmington College is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Admissions & Coordinator of Diversity Outreach on our main campus in Wilmington. This is a full time, exempt level position.

As Assistant Director of Admissions, the incumbent is responsible for leading prospective students through the admission, financial aid, and class registration processes in order to matriculate at Wilmington College. Tasks include, but are not limited to; traveling to high schools, attending college fairs, attending recruiting events on and off campus (including overnight stays), processing admission files, communicating with perspective students and families, visiting with prospective students and families, providing campus tours and more. As an Assistant Director of Admissions at Wilmington College you will be charged with managing a recruitment territory and meeting institutional enrollment goals.

As Coordinator of Diversity Outreach the incumbent is responsible for leading the diversity outreach initiatives for the Office of Admission. Oversees diversity recruitment; leads development and implementation of the multicultural recruitment plan; plans and implements on and off campus recruitment programs for diverse populations. Serves as liaison to various university departments and programs serving diverse populations; and contributes to campus retention programming for diverse populations. Will serve as the primary contact for access organizations in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide maximum customer service to prospective students and their families
  • Visit with prospective students (and families) to provide a welcoming and thorough overview of the opportunities available at Wilmington College
  • Provide correspondence to prospective students through all channels of communication including phone, text, email and parent outreach
  • Develop innovative recruitment strategies and execute those strategies in a collaborative and team-building environment
  • Visit, develop and maintain strong working relationships with high school educators, guidance professionals and access organization leaders
  • Be an active ally for diverse communities both on and off campus
  • Represent College at various college fairs and community events
  • Attend on-campus and off-campus Admission recruiting events
  • Assume secondary planning and implementation responsibility for recruitment territory events on campus
  • Utilize integrated database to process admission files, award scholarship and communicate effectively with prospective students
  • Conduct financial aid counseling contacts with students including verification process and financial aid award review
  • Attend weekly Admission Staff meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Admissions.

  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred; Minimum 2 years' experience working in Higher Education, student services or community outreach.
  • Experience organizing programs and events for diverse student populations; and a commitment to student recruitment and knowledge of the demographics of diverse and multicultural populations required.
  • Evidence of excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate effectively across cultures with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability, including effective time-management skills and ability to prioritize in a multi-task work environment.
  • Good computer skills with background using Microsoft Office, web applications and database experience is helpful.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Ohio driver's license and willingness to travel for recruitment events.
  • Familiarity with private higher education admission and/or financial aid is preferred.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel as necessary for recruitment events and special programs.
