Budget Title: Instructional Support Assistant (SL-1)

Salary: $20/hour (part-time, temporary, remote)

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is hiring several remote-based part-time Application Readers. Please note: while the position will be fully-remote, new hires must come to Binghamton's Human Resources Office in person one time prior to the start of training. Readers will not be compensated for travel to/from campus, so applicants from the local area are strongly encouraged. Training at the start of the position will take approximately one week and then a once-a-week meeting will be required throughout the duration of employment. Application Readers will thoroughly and holistically evaluate application materials including transcripts, essays, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, and all other aspects of application files. Readers must be able to work from home while remaining focused on a task for several hours at a time. Candidates can set their own schedules (aside from the once-weekly meeting) and will need to commit to 20 hours per week from November 14th to mid-February. The exact end date will vary depending on the needs of the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Ideal candidates will have experience in college admissions and/or higher education as a whole, and will also have experience analyzing application materials and advocating for historically underrepresented and underserved populations

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology
  • Attend training and a weekly meeting via Zoom
  • Have your own laptop or desktop computer, reliable internet connection, and a cell phone or landline
  • Ability to work 20 hours per week consistently with little or no distractions
  • Must be able to come to Binghamton University campus within 3 days of hire to fill out paperwork in person
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred:
  • Prior admissions and/or higher education experience
  • Advising work with a community-based organization advising education and career opportunities
  • Experience advocating for students from historically underrepresented or underserved communities
