Target Salary Range: $50,000 - $55,000

FLSA: Exempt

Business Hours: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (Will need to work until 6 pm one day per week. Occassional Staturdays are required.)

Reporting Relationships

Reports to: Supervision is received from the Dean of Advising and Retention

Supervision Exercised: Direct administrative supervision is exercised over student workers.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Dean of Advising and Retention, the ATC Student Services Advisor will be responsible for the daily administration and operations of Student Service programs. These areas include: student recruitment, academic advising, career services, financial aid and payment, records and registration functions, and student life.

This position is located at the Advanced Technology Center in Belvidere, IL.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.
  • Serve as student affairs division advisor to a caseload of students enrolled in credit and non credit programs at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Belvidere, IL.
  • Coordinate and provide activities including: recruitment, registration, new student orientation, program information sessions, student success workshops advising, career counseling, financial aid assistance, payment processing and student life. Case manage current students in all ATC programs.
  • Provide support to the development and improvement of programs and services to reach a diverse student population.
  • Foster an environment of departmental collaboration to ensure successful delivery of academic support and student services.
  • Develop academic pathways that aid students in transferring to other RVC campus locations to complete transfer or career program requirements.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures for all areas of student services at the ATC.
  • Respond to all inquiries, disputes, complaints in student services areas.
  • Teach STU 100, 101, and 103 as needed and appropriate.
  • Create an ATC communication plan that emphasizes responsive, respectful, and individualized support to the needs of prospective and current students.
  • Develop report(s) that highlight how efforts at the ATC align with Student Affairs Divisional goals.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments.
  • Ensure the maintenance of student records and appointments to provide adequate data needed for effective decision-making.
  • Ensure proper procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Hire, train, supervise and evaluate student workers.
  • Serve on RVC committees as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Some evening and weekend hours will be required.
  • Regular attendance is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in higher education leadership, counseling or student affairs field highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a wide range of students and community groups preferred.
  • Knowledge of collegiate academic/financial aid procedures is preferred.
  • Spanish language skills highly desirable.
  • Previous community college experience is desirable.
  • Excellent demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and function autonomously.
