About Bunker Hill Community College:

Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is a multi-campus institution with vibrant, urban campuses in Boston, Massachusetts, in nearby Chelsea, Massachusetts, and at several satellites and instructional sites throughout the Greater Boston area. The largest of the 15 community colleges in Massachusetts, BHCC serves some 18,000 students annually, focusing on holistic student services to ensure student retention and persistence. Job Description:


Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Admissions and Recruitment, the part-time Admissions Specialist will assist with first point of contact for prospective students, applicants and new students and current students to Bunker Hill Community College through Gecko Engage, the Colleges live chat and text messaging platform. The position will be task focused and consistent on a day-to-day basis engaging with those students seeking answers to question using live chat, text messaging and email as their prime way of communicating. In addition, the professional in this role will participate in the Admissions and Recruitment office staff meetings and Enrollment Division meetings to stay up to date on important information relating to admissions and enrollment at the College. The person in this position will support the continuous goal of providing a student-centered approach for all students to the College at every entry point.

Specific Duties:

  • Review and respond to email inquiries sent to the Admissions Office email account and route to appropriate staff as needed for additional follow up;
  • Engage directly with students utilizing Gecko live chat & text messaging to answer questions about the admissions and enrollment process;
  • Complete call campaigns for outreach to prospective students, applicants and newly accepted students to help navigate their next steps;
  • Support the processing of Admissions application documents such as High School Diploma, High School transcripts, GED/HiSet scores, etc., using TargetX (CRM), ImageNow & Colleague (Student Information System);
  • Calculate GPAs from High School transcripts for GPA placement waiver and data entry into systems;
  • Ensure students are aware of and connected to the support services at BHCC;
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Business Administration or closely related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience involving college admissions, academic advisement and/or career development,
  • Experience in using a CRM, student information systems and technology as well as MS Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Excellent, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment;
  • Proven ability to work with diverse, staff, student population & faculty;
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of cultural competency;
  • Able to communicate effectively to different audiences;
  • Position is telework-eligible; candidates must be available to work on campus on a rotating schedule as needed


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work Saturdays during peak registration periods (August & September and January);
  • Experience using live chat software;
  • Experience working in a community college preferably in Admissions or Enrollment;
  • Written and spoken proficiency in more than one language



Additional Information:


Salary: $30.03/hr. @ 18.5/hr.s week (non-benefited)

*This position is grant funded until June 30, 2023.
