The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill seeks a highly motivated, dynamic, and engaging leader to serve as the Director of Admissions. The Director will be responsible for all aspects of new student enrollment and serve as the general coordinator of campus-wide retention efforts. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a proven record of new student recruitment, and a deep understanding of the educational landscape.
  • Provide leadership and direct supervision of the Office of Admissions staff and operations with attention to being responsive, collaborative, innovative, results-oriented, and student-centered in the pursuit of meeting and exceeding new student enrollment goals.
  • Identify, analyze, develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive and adaptable recruitment plan.
  • With a statistically informed understanding of the higher education landscape, regularly evaluate, proactively respond to, and keep campus stakeholders informed of the competitive market forces which impact the institution.
  • Develop strong collaborative partnerships with all departments on campus, including but not limited to: Marketing & Communications, Student Financial Services, Academic Affairs, Student Leadership & Development, the Office of the Registrar, Academic Advising, and Residence Life.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to teaching faculty in all aspects of recruitment, current program offerings, building and maintaining prospective student outreach activities, and keeping informed of changes in academic programming and policies related to the success of prospective students.
  • Assure internal compliance with published admissions standards and manage all externally published information on admissions requirements, transfer policies, and deadlines via various electronic media, print media, and individual communications.
  • Generate, prepare, and provide various reports and data concerning admissions, recruitment, and general office management to leadership and the campus community.
  • Plan and manage the budget of the Admissions Office.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with high schools and regional community colleges.
  • Participate in recruitment activities, including travel to various locations, making presentations, responding to correspondence and phone calls, and working evenings and weekends as required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree
  • At least five years of experience in higher education in role(s) related to new student enrollment and/or recruitment.
  • At least three years of direct supervisory experience of both professional and operational staff.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and non-verbal) to effortlessly share the message of SUNY Cobleskill with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion both within the Office of Admissions and on campus.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evening and weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:
  • Master's degree
  • Proficiency in data management utilizing a variety of platforms including Microsoft Excel, Argos, Ellucian Banner, and the Technolutions Slate CRM.
  • Experience in project management across large timelines and departments.
  • Ability to build, monitor, and manage a department budget
