POSITION PURPOSE

Promote student success and retention at the academy through regular monitoring and auditing of student progress while referring students at risk or in need of additional resources with the primary objective to ensure on-time and successful completion of the training program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Audit, monitor, and evaluate students' progress through the academy training program.
  • Monitor and report on daily lesson completion as well as the completion of other milestone events to include written testing, stage checks, end of course checks, and checkrides.
  • Create plans of action when deficiency trigger events occur and monitor the completion of the plan.
  • Audit student training records and assist students with the completion of checklists and regulatory forms prior to checking events.
  • Assist students in onboarding and orientation.
  • Manage student transition to experience-building pathways, and from these pathways to Republic Airways First Officer.
  • Monitor student and instructor attendance for daily training events and provide first-level coaching for attendance.
  • Inform students as to expected program track including pathways for time and experience building.
  • Create student training calendars and timelines, working with the Operations Manager to plan start dates for student cohorts.
  • Assist the Operations Manager in the scheduling of training events with Check Instructors and Designated Pilot Examiners.
  • Enroll students in course in the academy recordkeeping software.
  • Works collaboratively with the team to allocate resources for student training.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to students perceived as at-risk, acts as an advocate as appropriate.
  • Develops and maintains operating procedures that minimize the likelihood and impact of errors.
  • Generates and presents reports to academy leadership on student progress.
  • Maintains administrative documents and confidential student records.
  • Develops and promotes internal communication and resource sharing in order to benefit student success.
  • Participates in individual and team professional development, remains current with technology used to provide advising services.
  • Advise students on consequences for attendance and performance issues.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ensure that students are prepared to meet the demands of the academy training program, identify obstacles to success, and promote changes in behavior, as necessary, to ensure successful completion of the program.
  • Operational efficiency
  • Maintain total awareness into the consistent and on-time completion of training programs at the academy for each assigned student. Provide regular reporting to leadership on student success with regard to performance and on-time status.
  • Safety and security
  • Consistently and reliably ensures that the policies and procedures required at a high security operation are met and reports any deviations from these policies and procedures.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to perform this job.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Experience in academic advising or related careers in post-secondary or trade education, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively analyze ambiguous information and respond appropriately.
  • Experience in group presentations.
  • Ability to process and maintain confidential information.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office suite.
  • Ability to multitask and interact with multiple computer applications.

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • FAA advanced or instrument ground instructor or certificated flight instructor certificate.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Experience working within the flight training industry.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING/PROBLEM SOLVING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

DECISION MAKING

Makes day to day decisions used to support strategic direction. Decisions often require some thought and are structured. Decisions tend to be short term and usually low cost.
