Essential Functions

  • Assist with operations of international alumni engagement program, encouraging continued engagement between international alumni and the University.
  • Serve in regional liaison role for international alumni volunteers and networks.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary point of contact for international alumni volunteers, and manage day-to-day operations, to maintain an active global network of alumni ambassadors and networks including:
    • Advise & support current volunteers & related alumni-driven engagement activities
    • Assist & plan for alumni network leadership transitions, including as an interim primary contact 
    • Recruit & guide potential volunteers from initial interest through onboarding on an ongoing basis
    • Gather volunteer feedback through annual assessment survey, coordinated with promotional materials mailing
    • Manage and allocate budget, including international payment processing, for volunteer activities
    • Act as liaison between alumni volunteers and University to support engagement activities
  • Assist Senior Director with coordination of support for Department/Unit international activity, including: 
    • Collaboration on relevant alumni engagement opportunities
    • Management of Global Alumni Faculty Ambassador Program, connecting Purdue visitors and alumni during international travel
  • Collaborate to support effective, ongoing communications with current & future international alumni audiences
    • Maintain accuracy of international alumni website and all other related information (print, social, etc.)
    • Assist with maintenance of international alumni social media presence via official channel administration
    • Conduct regular communications, virtual meetings and other touchpoints with all volunteers, with increased frequency for key locations
    • Assist with general inquiries from international alumni, to coordinate related assistance & support
    • Facilitate relevant student organization/alumni network connections and coordination, to create international student awareness of alumni resources and programs.
    • Engage non-alumni international visitors while on campus, including exchange students and non-degree program participants to facilitate post-campus international engagement
  • Manage necessary data and reporting for international alumni engagement program, including:
    • Use of Salesforce Ascend & Analytics for accessing relevant alumni data, and requesting custom reports as needed.
    • Routine data processing including i.e., international alumni contact information updates/campaigns, event registration reports, non-alumni data transfer, contact reports and database coding, alumni engagement data reporting, etc.
  • Limited international travel in support of international alumni engagement (volunteer meetings/recruitment, alumni receptions, supporting other University initiatives, etc.)
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to volunteers, alumni, University partners and other constituents

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a wide range of individuals and lead in group settings.
  • Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills, including ensuring accuracy for all program and event details.
  • Ability to multitask, supporting multiple volunteers/networks, programs & initiatives at any one time.
  • Self-directed, with an ability to work independently 
  • Flexible and solution-oriented
  • General understanding of Advancement (alumni relations, development, etc.) as a profession 
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM.

Education/Experience

  • Customer service, project management, event planning experience and/or program administrator role experience.
  • Prior experience traveling, working, living, or studying abroad for extended periods and/or independently.
  • Experience working in higher education settings.
  • Experience with a relationship-focused role in a professional setting.
  • Cross-cultural communication experience.
