The position of Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture offers an uncommon opportunity for an individual to bring progressive and inspired leadership to the admissions operation of a renowned school of art and architecture located within a research university.

Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, the Director focuses on setting and attaining the school's recruitment, enrollment and retention goals, managing operations, supervising a five-person staff and student workers; and collaborating with colleagues throughout the school and central university Admissions Office. This is a highly creative position that requires an essential understanding of best practices in this rapidly changing field. We seek an energetic and collaborative leader with skills and experience in outreach and marketing; data analysis and interpretation; and leveraging financial aid to yield a highly qualified and diverse student body. The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, be passionate about higher education, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be effective in working with prospective students and their families as well as faculty, students, and staff.

One of Tyler's core strengths is the breadth of its academic programs. The school offers more than three dozen degree programs for over 1500 students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in studio art, design, art history, art education, art therapy, architecture, and built environment disciplines. In each program, students work in small learning communities, while also benefiting from state-of-the-art facilities, a rigorous curriculum, and a large, diverse campus community.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree required. A degree in visual arts, architecture, art education, fine arts, or art history is required. At least 6 years of progressive experience in admissions is required. Supervisory experience is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to perform portfolio reviews and off-campus recruitment activities which may be inaccessible by public transportation
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Excellent skills in marketing techniques
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with data management, paperless admissions systems and budgeting
  • Effective and engaging public speaker

Preferred:
  • Masters Degree
