Position Summary

The Assistant Dean for International and Diversity Advising serves as a senior staff member of the College Advising Team assisting with the strategic planning and assessment of overall advising operations and support services for the College's 8,000+ students. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Advising, the Assistant Dean serves on the Dean's Cabinet and represents the College to various internal and external constituencies. This position leads a multidisciplinary team that provides advising and supportive services for the following undergraduate student populations: international students, first generation students and CAS students studying away. The Assistant Dean oversees planning and implementation of co-curricular programming designed to increase awareness and support of diversity, equity and inclusion values while also administering the University's Student Domestic Exchange Program and POISE, the College's pipeline program with the Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC).

Qualifications

Required Education:Master's Degree in Liberal Arts discipline or relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, International Education, Counseling Psychology, etc.). Preferred Education:PhD or EdD in related discipline. Required Experience:5+ years relevant experience in academic advising and administration, including staff supervision, event planning and implementation, student affairs, diversity initiatives, and/or staff training with a specialization in diversity, and inclusion. Preferred Experience:7+ years related experience. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment. Superior written and verbal communication skills (with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels) Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, organization, and multitasking skills, along with strong data analysis, and presentation skills. Ability to advise and support underrepresented, minority and diverse student populations and have a strong commitment to liberal arts education. Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Should have experience working and/or studying abroad or working in an international setting. Ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in cross-cultural dynamics/exchanges and supporting international students. Proficiency in languages other than English.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $75,000.00 to USD $125,000.00.
