Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking an Assistant Dean I SPVR. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Enrollment Management & Financial Aid, this position assists with all aspects of the admissions process. In addition to reviewing and helping render decisions on approximately 3,000 applications, this position also requires representing the law school at recruitment fairs, forums and panels; counseling students regarding the admissions process; and developing and implementing strategies for recruiting and yielding diverse prospective students.

This position is responsible for and not limited to the following.
  • Develops working relationships with undergraduate and graduate institutions, pre-law advisors, pre-law societies, and other external constituents
  • Assists the Financial Aid Office with general communications and award letters
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Senior Associate Dean of Enrollment Management & Financial Aid
  • Executes the planning and implementation of Orientation, open houses, webinars, information sessions, and other recruitment activities
  • Serves as a liaison between prospective students and other external constituents on issues related to diversity and inclusion in legal education and the profession as a whole
  • Engages with current students and Law School administrators to develop and implement policies, pipeline and outreach programs, and curricular requirements that foster an environment of diversity and inclusion at Rutgers Law School
  • Develop and implement diversity pipeline programs and initiatives as well as develop relationships with HBCUs, HSIs, and Colleges/Universities with highly diverse student bodies to work to create direct entry admission programs with Rutgers Law School.
  • Works with the Assistant Dean of the Minority Student Program (MSP) in Newark to execute programming for and the onboarding of admitted MSP students
  • Responsible for the creation digital content and working with the Director of Communications to engage with external audiences through our website and social media platforms
  • Supervises office procedures to ensure timely and effective communications with applicants, prospects, and others who contact the Newark admissions office
  • Requires occasional evening and weekend event responsibilities and seasonal recruiting travel
