Associate Director, International Admissions

 

The George Mason University Office of Admissions is seeking applicants for the Associate Director of International Admissions position. About the Position:

The Associate Director of International Admissions assists with all aspects of the international admissions and recruitment process, including the coordination and evaluation of international applications, counseling of prospective international students, and international recruitment travel, as needed. This position will manage the review of all the special applicant populations. They will also manage and create the marketing communications being sent to international students. This position supervises the International Admissions Counselor and some of the Immigration Specialists on the International Team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Train, supervise and evaluate staff, which includes full-time and part-time employees on the International Admissions Team; Manage the application process and serve as the primary Office of Admissions liaison for the INTO Global Application, and other third-party admissions contracts; Be the primary point of contact for Mason Korea, and the International Enrollment Partnerships Office for other special applicant populations (2+2 programs, 3+1+1 programs, etc.) to assist with applications received for these programs; Participate in all aspects of the international admission process including processing, reviewing, and evaluating all types of undergraduate international applicant files. Independently, make the appropriate admissions decisions; Be viewed as an expert source of the campus, its academic programs, and student support services for prospective international students. Remain current on international admissions trends and foreign credential evaluation; Assist in developing an effective international student communication plan, recruitment activities, and follow-up and outreach strategies for all Mason campuses; Direct or participate in day-to-day operational activities and processes of the Admissions Office including, advising prospective international students, and serving as “counselor of the day”; Attend Admissions Office-sponsored programs and events and other events for international students; Provide frontline customer service for prospective international students via phone, email, and in-person; Serves as a key member of various teams within the Admissions Office and Enrollment Management division; Develop and implement plans for assigned projects, including independently directing and assigning staff; and Perform various other duties and projects as deemed appropriate by supervisor.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with substantial relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; Progressive experience in college/university admissions (three years preferred); An understanding of the core principles of marketing to international students, international recruiting, and international admissions required; Supervisory experience; Demonstrated advanced and effective interpersonal, cross-cultural communications and public speaking skills; Outstanding organizational, technical, analytical and project management skills with demonstrated attention to detail required; Demonstrated ability to interact and work with students, faculty, staff and administrators of diverse backgrounds; Available for evening and weekend work; Ability to travel internationally; Ability to lift 25 pounds; Ability handling sensitive and/or confidential information and situations; and Eligible to obtain a passport.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree; Familiarity with Ellucian Banner and/or Salesforce; Bilingual; Experience living and working abroad; and Experience working as a Designated School Officer (DSO).
