The Admissions Officer I is responsible for the daily operations associated with the initial processing of undergraduate, graduate, professional, and certificate applications received by the Office of Admissions. Duties include the timely and efficient review of applications and supporting credentials, review of documents to determine residence classification for tuition purposes and preparation of documents for the Residency Appeals Committee. This position has extensive communication with applicants and academic departments regarding the application process. The incumbent must work with minimal direct supervision and exercise a good deal of independent judgment to assure the application is properly prepared for decision.

This position coordinates the initial processing of undergraduate, graduate, professional and certificate applications for admission and assists with distance and online program applicants. The materials required to complete processing of an application varies considerably depending on the applicant type, level of entrance and the program requested. This position will assist in the cross training of fellow application services employees to effectively process applications. A thorough knowledge of majors, degrees and program levels must be maintained to ensure a timely and efficient review of all available information required for processing the application and evaluating admission credentials to determine if official and complete. A thorough knowledge of immigration documents and the Residency Rules and Regulation adopted by the State Board of Education and the Board of Governors for the State University System will be required to determine Residency classifications for tuition purposes. The incumbent will also manage departmental requests regarding applications and troubleshoot and correct data discrepancies within the MyAdmissions and SIS systems. A thorough knowledge of data integration processes between MyAdmissions and the SIS will be required to troubleshoot and manage admissions data across the different systems.

The Admissions Officer I will develop a working knowledge of all admission requirements for every level of entry, and business processes used to indicate actions taken and documents required to complete the application. This position will advise departments and applicants via phone and/or email of any additional credentials, such as transcripts, test scores, application fees, supporting documents for residency classifications and conduct explanations required to complete the application process. The incumbent will provide support to OneStop staff members with escalated admissions related inquiries received by their office over the phone, email, or the OneStop lobby. May be asked to participate in cross functional events, advise on committees, engaged in Q&A sessions, or assist with the creation of reference materials in support of OneStop staff member training.

Manages application data in the application processing system, Slate, and the Admissions data as it integrates into the student information system, Campus Solutions. Responsible for the creation of new Organizations in the student information system and maintaining corresponding school data within Slate to ensure the two systems remain in sync with the most up to date information including but not limited to locations, accreditation, and individual organization codes.

Finalizing admitted student applications, including but not limited to review of credentials, management of holds, and evaluate hold deferral requests in preparation for student registration.

Other duties and projects of a time-limited or temporary nature as assigned by supervisor.
