The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for a Student Services Specialist I/Il in the Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management (NREM) Student Services Office.
The Student Service Specialist will help coordinate departmental undergraduate recruitment, orientation, retention, and academic advising in NREM. Specific duties will include:

The Student Service Specialist will help coordinate departmental undergraduate recruitment, orientation, retention, and academic advising in NREM. Specific duties will include:
- Assist undergraduate students with scheduling, registration, degree audits and course selection, and interpreting academic policies and procedures.
- Help teach the student orientation class (NREM 110).
- Refer students to appropriate resources for assistance with academic success, counseling, financial aid, study abroad, and career opportunities.
- Participate in recruitment activities, including summer orientation, and strengthen relationships with high school and community college advisers.
- Prepare timely and appropriate reports as needed including an annual Student Services report, recruitment reports, exit surveys, student retention, and course data reports.
- Supervise up to 2 student employees throughout the calendar year.
- Assist in coordinating student events, review and manage event budgets, negotiate with vendors, solve logistical problems, and review events outcome.
In addition to the above requirements, the Student Services Specialist II will:
- Develop course materials in addition to helping teach the orientation class (NREM 110)
- Serve as a resource for the Student Specialist I in NREM
- Manage the Student Services office including reporting and budgetary responsibilities.
- Serves on departmental, college, and university committees as needed
