Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Graduate Recruitment in Purdue's College of Engineering will strategize, develop, and implement programs to enhance domestic and international graduate student recruitment with a focus on continuously improving quality and diversity of applicants across the College of Engineering’s 14 graduate programs and 4600+ graduate students. Forge domestic and international partnerships, assess program outcomes, and manage related events, communications, travel, etc. Serve as a key point of contact for program participants and graduate school applicants and establish networks of current graduate students and alumni to support efforts. Graduate Engineering education at Purdue University is of national prominence and the Assistant Director will ensure the activities associated with graduate student recruitment are of the highest quality.

This is a hybrid (on-site/remote) position for candidates local to or willing to relocated to West Lafayette, IN or surrounding areas.

Required:

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in University Administration, Student Recruitment, Student Services, Event Planning, Human Resources, Education, Academic Counseling or Communication
  • Time spent toward a research-based PhD will be considered relevant experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience will be accepted (i.e. Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of relevant experience)   
  • Ability to develop and execute programs to recruit domestic and international graduate students (organize on- and off-campus events, form partnerships, conduct travel, prepare marketing materials, track results, etc.)
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of graduate students, alumni, administrators, faculty and staff
  • Essential skills include problem solving, organization, time management, customer service, creativity, and professionalism
  • Must be comfortable learning and working with a wide range of technologies, databases, and software applications
  • Must be highly motivated, self-initiating, and a team player
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and make decisions under pressure from students, faculty and staff

Preferred:

  • PhD degree
  • A degree in Engineering, STEM, Management, Marketing, Education, Communications, or related field
  • Experience working with graduate students at a major research university and developing and implementing practices for diverse audiences
  • Experience with international travel
  • Fluency in multiple languages
  • Knowledge of graduate programs in Engineering
