Location: Boston, MA Category: Professional Staff Posted On: Wed Jan 11 2023 Job Description: Bunker Hill Community College, a vibrant and diverse higher education learning environment in Boston, Massachusetts, is seeking a dynamic leader to assume the role of Special Program Coordinator for Students Who are Parents to coordinate the BHCC Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) program. The BHCC CCAMPIS program has been designed to serve student-parents with financial need by partnering with Child Care Choices of Boston (CCCB) to offer a system of financial assistance, resources and community-based childcare placement that will work for our student population. This fulltime position reports to the Division of Student Affairs. The Special Program Coordinator is responsible for providing vision, leadership and direction in the coordination of a comprehensive program consistent with the mission and goals of Bunker Hill Community College. The Special Program Coordinator will provide strategic recruitment, retention and success for Students who are Parents in collaboration with on-campus and community-based partnerships. The Special Program Coordinator will be an active member of the Student Affairs Division and work closely within the Division with the Student Counseling Center, the campus food pantry (the DISH), Disability Services, Single Stop, Student Engagement and Leadership, Athletics, Veteran Services and other key campus partners. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. This position is located on-site at the Charlestown campus.

Leadership

Create a diverse outreach to student parent

Supervise all administrative, operational and business functions in accordance with the policies and procedures established by the College.Cultivate and enhance relationships both on campus and in the community to support and represent the mission of the College with student-parent needs and concerns.Supervise scheduling and details of all events and facilities for programs for student-parents.Serve as a liaison to the Office of Enrollment Management for recruitment of student-parents.Co-organize recruitment plans with Enrollment Management.Be an active member of the Division of Student Affairs and the College by participating in staff meetings, trainings, retreats and professional development opportunities

Communication and Outreach

Create a diverse outreach or student-parents to foster engagement at the college.Meet with student parents, individually and in groups, to facilitate discussions about balancing school, parenting, and work responsibilities, and challenges faced by this busy student group.Create web and social media-based resources for student parents.Support student parents in connecting with resources to persist at BHCC (such as public child-care vouchers, MassHealth, DISH).Develop new strategies to link students with advising based on the unique schedules and challenges for student parents.Implement best-practices in the field for student-parents in all services.Assess and evaluate program and individual progress.Create educational experiences for student- parents focused on success at BHCC, transfer and employment.Increase awareness across campus of the challenges faced by student-parents.

Fiscal Management

Identify and prioritize the Department's funding requirements and administer the annual operating budget and grants.Collaborate with on-campus and off-campus resources to establish financial literacy growth for student-parents. Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Counseling, or related field; Three years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;Demonstrated knowledge of student-parent issues at the collegiate level;Project and/or grant management experience;Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population;Demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal communications. Additional Information:Salary Range: $49,711.00-$53,000.00 Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Reports to the Assistant Dean of Students or designee. This position is contingent upon grant funding.
