The Senior Director of Student Affairs is responsible for the planning, implementation and support of Student Affairs operations for the University in order to meet established retention, persistence, completion and student satisfaction goals each year. This includes but is not limited to hiring, training, mentoring and/or supervising Student Affairs staff. In addition, the Senior Director of Student Affairs ensures that all escalated concerns are handled appropriately and in compliance with university policy.
This position will focus on student success work through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Senior Director of Student Affairs reports to the AVP of Student Services.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s Degree required; preferred education in Higher Education.
• At least five years of related experience in Higher Education.
PREFERRED:
• Grant Experience
• Student Affairs Experience including Title IX, ADA, Counseling and Student Activities
• Experience working with non-traditional population
OTHER DUTIES:
• Travel as needed to home office in Milwaukee - frequency and duration will vary.
• Maintain a current and accurate knowledge of all program offerings, policies, and procedures.
• Volunteer, pursue, and lead improvements.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide leadership in the development of student affairs strategy and planning and translate strategy into tactical execution and operational implementation.
• Provides supervision and leadership over the following areas: Counseling, Grant Operations, Title IX, Safety, ADA and Student Organizations/Communications.
• Generate, analyze and evaluate all necessary reports and student data to ensure team goals and objectives are achieved. Based upon analysis, make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide leadership for student affairs and deliver results through effective training, coaching and development.
• Lead the training, development and coordination of student affairs activities.
• Manage team performance, which includes delivering consistent quality feedback, providing reinforcement and recognition when appropriate, taking corrective action when necessary.
• Demonstrate proficiency and ensure proper use of all systems, tools and resources by student services team.
• Build relationships with other departments and external resources to achieve optimal student outcomes.
• Resolve complex student services related student concerns.
• Provide support for crisis response, Title IX, and conduct.
• Serve as a senior leader within the division of student affairs, representing the division as needed and in the absence of the Associate Vice President.
