Reports To: Admissions Counselor (for on-campus)

Standard Hours: Variable - up to 20 hours per week

(CANNOT work more than 20 hours per week with all KC employment combined when classes are in session)

Award Status: Work-Study

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Classification: Student

Wage: Current New York State Minimum Wage for hourly employees

Dates: January 2022 to December 2022

Summary:

Must be a current Admissions Ambassador to qualify for this position. The Gold Student Ambassador will assist in all aspects of the Admissions Office, including weekend visit days and other critical on-campus events. Gold Student Ambassador will aid Admissions Counselor and/or Support Staff in daily office activities. While the Admissions Counselor is out of the office the Gold Student Ambassador will act as a liaison between the prospective student and counselor.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate Saturday/Sunday Showcases by managing event registration, delegating tours, supervising Student Ambassadors/tour guides, and completing an evaluation of the event.
  • Give Admissions presentations to prospective students and families and facilitate a question/answer session.
  • Facilitate weekday Admissions presentations and question/answer sessions for high school and middle school bus trips when Admissions counselors are out of the office on travel.
  • Conduct interviews/individual meetings with prospective students and families in the absence of an Admissions Counselor.
  • Facilitate Recruitment Response Centers by supervising and evaluating Student Ambassadors that will be participating in phone call campaigns throughout the year.
  • Act as a role model and serve as a mentor for Student Ambassadors on staff.
  • Train newly-hired Student Ambassadors.
  • Develop an understanding of the Admissions process.
  • Gain skills in communication, teamwork, marketing, and guide high school students in their college selection.
  • Gain extensive knowledge about Keuka College per research and training.
  • Apply personal Keuka College experiences to specific Admissions situations and campus tours.
  • Create/improve upon a broader awareness of marketing, public relations concepts, team-building skills, and intrapersonal and interpersonal organizational communication skills.
  • Assist in meeting recruitment goals.
  • Assist professional and support staff in daily routines, preparing direct mailings, making phone calls.
  • Give campus tours to candidates, new employees, VIP guests, and prospective students and their families.
  • Assist in all aspects of Keuka College's weekend campus visit events/special events, etc., when needed.
  • If working for an Admissions Counselor, will be the main contact when the counselor is not in the office.
  • Speak with prospective students and their families about their experiences.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies, and procedures in a positive and professional manner. Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary training and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision, and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain a high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

Eligible for a Federal work-study award (FCW) or a Keuka College work study-award (KWW).

A current Keuka College student in the on-campus traditional undergraduate program.

Work as Student Ambassador/Tour Guide for at least one semester and complete at least one Field Period (preferred). During this time, the applicant must demonstrate strong public speaking/presentation skills, analytical thinking skills, leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of the application and enrollment process to be considered.

Must apply and interview for the position, and give a mock presentation to the hiring committee.

Must be extremely detail-oriented and possess the ability to follow detailed directions.

Must use time effectively to complete all assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.

Must be outgoing, mature, responsible, team-oriented, and have a genuine love for Keuka College.

Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to different tasks and situations.

Must dress appropriately for the job (dress code will be shared upon hire).

Must be willing to make this job a top priority outside of school work.

Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.

Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.

Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, College staff, and the public.

Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements:

Occasional evening and weekend hours are required.

Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
