Functions and Responsibilities
Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director - Welcome Center or designee, the Admissions Specialist is responsible for serving as a primary contact for admission to the college and support students through the admissions process.
Supervisory Role
Oral and written instructions are received from the Assistant Director - Welcome Center or designee. The Admissions Specialist may supervise support staff, and student workers.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Responsible for the implementation for admissions programs for high school and adult learner students; including public information, correspondence, admission recruitment activities, counseling and advising of students, evaluation of admissions credentials and assisting in student scheduling.
2. Visit and present both virtually and in person at high schools and agencies for the purpose of recruiting students. Assist the Enrollment Management Area with creating, coordinating, and maintaining admission information and materials.
3. Develop and foster relationships with students and families through on campus and virtual recruiting activities and events.
4. Attend college fairs on and off campus and virtually, and other recruiting functions, conduct campus tours, participate in recruitment events.
5. Support students through admission and enrollment processes.
6. Coordinate and plan in person and virtual information sessions and special events for prospective students.
7. Work closely with faculty, advising, and student services staff to communicate information about college programs, admission requirements, financial assistance, and other essential information.
8. Prepare reports, statistical analyses and other data related to Admissions.
9. Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
10. Maintains Banner, Recruit, and databases relevant to the prospective student follow up process.
11. Adhere to college, federal and state administrative procedures, guidelines, initiatives and directives to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
12. Maintain strict confidentiality and security of staff and student records.
13. Prepare routine, special, and ancillary reports as required.
14. Performs other related duties as required.

1. Ability to work an extended, flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, according to demands of the role and tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Experience in higher education, preferably in student services for a higher education institution.
3. Working knowledge of computer software applications, preferably the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
4. Demonstrated ability of providing high-quality customer service with staff and students.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and demonstrated professionalism required.
6. Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
8. Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.

Licenses and Certifications (including e.g., CPR, first aid, driver's license, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience (number of years), Knowledge and/or Abilities
1. Bachelor's degree in related area.
2. Three - five years of experience in higher education, preferably in student services for a higher education institution at the community college level.
3. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks/projects and to manage competing priorities in a complex setting.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of computerized record management and maintenance systems, preferably the Banner system.
