The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Student Services Advisor II for the Master of Science in Global Medicine program at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. The individual should have student advisement experience and strong communication skills. The applicant should also be dependable, empathic, and detail-oriented.
Employment involves (1) providing academic counseling for graduate students on curriculum, course and degree requirements, course clearance and registration, graduation , and academic policies and procedures; knowledge of health professional school application processes and requirements is recommended (2) monitoring and tracking student progress and records, inputting data and generating reports utilizing student databases; (3) compiling data and preparing reports for program and departmental administrators; (4) coordinating and participating in information sessions, recruitment, Commencement, and other student-oriented events; (5) working with a team to evaluate and support the admission of new students to the Global Medicine program; (6) effective communication and working cooperatively in a team of student affairs staff to support student services delivery; (7) advising student organizations; (8) staying current on a wide range of university and school-wide policies, including by attending and representing Global Medicine at university events and meetings and sharing new knowledge with other staff and (9) and following and reporting on global educational trends affecting graduate students.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational capabilities, superb problem-solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork skills, and a demonstrated ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks. Should have experience working with educational technology and a willingness to adopt new technologies as needed. At least 3 years of work experience is required. Experience in student advisement and counseling is required. Master's degree is preferred.
The hourly rate range for this position is $33.00 - $35.00. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 3 years
Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related experience in student services and programming with ability to lead
