OverviewMacalester College seeks to hire a summer Intern for the Office of Student Leadership & Engagement professional staff. This Intern will serve as a key member in the planning and implementation of New Student Orientation and Orientation Leader training. You'll gain exposure to first year/transfer/exchange student Orientation planning and development, student leadership training and assessment, and collaborative campus partnerships at a small, private liberal arts college. You'll directly oversee projects related to the successful implementation of Orientation at Macalester College, including but not limited to: the creation of educational newsletter content sent to all first year, exchange, and transfer students, the development of orientation leader training, and independently designing the orientation training manual and related training sessions.

This internship will be 10 consecutive weeks in the range between June 5th to September 4th. The hours will be Monday-Thursday from 9am-4pm and Friday from 9am-12pm.

The total compensation will be $9,875 (Meal plan: $1,233, Campus Apartment:$4,640, Stipend: $4,000)

Responsibilities
* Directly oversees aspects of planning and implementation of Orientation program for all first year,exchange, and transfer students.
* Provides support and assistance to student Orientation Coordinators.
* Develops orientation leader training and creation of training manual.
* Creates "First Six Weeks" email-based newsletters to serve as a supplement for incoming students'orientation experience in collaboration with campus partners.
* Attends Orientation staff meetings, departmental meetings, and divisional meetings.
Qualifications
* Interest and experience in new student orientation and transition.
* Demonstrated commitment to institutional equity.
* Experience working on a college campus.
* Basic understanding of student development theory.
* Demonstrated ability to complete administrative tasks in a timely manner and attention to detail.
* Basic competence with technology (e-mail and google suite platforms).
* Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in written.
