The Graduate School of Education and Counseling at Lewis & Clark College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant or associate professor in Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration beginning in September 2023.

The MA program in Student Affairs Administration and the Higher Education/Student Affairs Administration (HESA) concentration in the EdD program in Educational Leadership are grounded in social justice principles. Our programs are designed for current or aspiring student affairs professionals with a special emphasis on the values of diversity, equity, and social justice.

Our programs are housed within a unique PK-20 social justice-oriented department aiming to develop scholar-practitioners who: are critically self-reflective; use inquiry to surface and address pressing educational inequities; and employ inclusive, democratic, and culturally responsive approaches to leadership. Program faculty are committed to preparing candidates to be transformative agents in educational settings.

We seek a colleague whose teaching and scholarship address equity and diversity issues in postsecondary education. The position is open to candidates with a wide range of research specializations and methodological approaches in the field of higher education. Candidates whose research examines critical issues across the educational pipeline are especially encouraged to apply. Additionally, we are interested in scholars whose research focus and teaching interests examine critical pedagogies, critical theories of education, and access and retention in higher education.

Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate courses in the MA program in Student Affairs Administration and the EdD program in Educational Leadership.
  • Mentor, supervise, and advise graduate students in the MA and EdD programs in Higher Education & Student Affairs.
  • Chair and serve on dissertation committees.
  • Assist in the coordination of the MA and EdD programs, including recruitment, admissions, program design, and curriculum development.
  • Serve on graduate school and college committees.
  • Participate in program assessment and accreditation-related activities.
  • Actively participate in professional associations at the local, state, regional, and national/international levels.

The Graduate School of Education and Counseling is committed to student and faculty diversity and values the educational benefits that derive from such diversity. We seek candidates who: possess a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in socially, culturally, and economically diverse communities; hold a commitment to education for social justice, democratic practice, and critical thinking; and have a demonstrated ability to address issues of diversity in research, teaching, and curriculum development.
