Admissions Counselor/Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Specialist

Stevens Institute of Technology offers an exciting opportunity for an Admissions Counselor/Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Specialist with dual responsibilities in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and the STEP-EOF Office. This individual will participate fully in a wide range of admissions activities representing the university in all aspects of territory management and will recruit for and facilitate admission to the New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program at Stevens. The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund was created by law to ensure meaningful access to higher education for New Jersey residents by providing financial assistance and support services to students from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

The Admissions Counselor/EOF Specialist in collaboration with the Stevens Office of Financial Adi determines the admissibility of prospective students in accordance with the admissions standards and policies of the university, and the EOF financial eligibility standards. This highly visible role requires a self-motivated, vibrant person who can communicate with prospective students and interested parties to explain the college admission policies, procedures, and accurately answer questions. This position requires travel to high schools, community-based organizations, and other forums within New Jersey to inform prospective students, families, and counselors of the University's admission standards, policies, programs, services, campus life, and other related information. Reporting to both the Associate Director of Recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Director of the EOF Program, the Admissions Counselor/EOF Specialist determines the admissibility of prospective students in accordance with the admissions standards and policies of the university.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Represent Stevens Institute of Technology at virtual and in-person recruitment activities
  • Manage assigned student recruitment territory which includes: travel to assigned off-campus territory, recruitment presentations; counseling families, interacting with counselors and community-based organizations administrators, reading, and reviewing applications, interviewing applicants, and recommending admissions decisions.
  • Assist with on and off-campus admissions activities.
  • Establish and execute strategies to recruit undergraduate EOF students - including EOF information sessions, and related events
  • Maintain ongoing contact with applicants, families, and counselors to ensure all required documents are received by deadlines to assist colleagues in the Office of Financial Aid with financial eligibility determination
  • Participate in the EOF committee applicant review and selection process
  • Attend special events during admitted student weekend, and summer program orientation
  • Maintain and contribute data necessary for the accurate completion of the EOF annual report
  • Work with Associate Director and the Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund Program to identify prospective STEP -EOF students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Valid driver's license
  • Exceptional customer service and oral and written communication skills
  • Experience and/or willingness to work with diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and within a team structure
  • Flexibility to work on evenings and weekends as needed

Preferred qualifications:
  • At least two years of admissions experience or similar demonstrated undergraduate admissions background and industry knowledge.
  • Fluency in a second language (Spanish preferred)
