Carnegie Mellon University's department of Electrical & Computer Engineering Academic Affairs is searching for an International Scholar Coordinator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in an exciting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing crucial support by managing the ECE visa process, at the department level, for all of ECE's international graduate students, undergraduate student interns, visiting faculty, visiting research scholars, postdoctoral research associates, faculty and staff.

Core responsibilities will include:
  • Focus primarily on immigration and visa document matters
  • Responsible for processing documents annually for 200+ students and scholars in F, J, and H-1B to apply for U.S. visas
  • Work very closely with OIE in the production of visa documents and assisting students and scholars in compliance with federal regulations governing their stay in the U.S
  • Manages the application, admission, visa coordination, and programming for ECE's Undergraduate Summer Internship Program.
  • Advises student groups concerning university policy and procedures, as well as assisting the groups in organizing, planning, and carrying out programs and projects. Attends group meetings. Supervises volunteers
  • Acts as liaison between university and various student groups. Troubleshoots problems and questions. Answers all routines questions or corrects minor problems. Refers only the most difficult issues and questions to supervisor
  • Provides administrative leadership for special projects, as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Knowledge of F and J immigration regulations, familiarity with H-1B regulations required
  • At least one year of student relations and student services experience required
  • Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered in lieu of degree
