Assistant Director, Global Programs & Student Advising

The Assistant Director of Global Programs & Student Advising will support comprehensive internationalization activities at Emerson College with a primary focus on managing the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students in global education programs. This position will serve as the primary student advisor for program-related questions and manage all application cycles via the online platform. The position looks for a Master's degree in an academic discipline and 3-5 years of experience in a higher education setting with a focus on international or intercultural education.

Reporting to the Director for Global Partnerships and Internationalization, in the office of Internationalization & Equity, the Assistant Director of Global Programs & Student Advising will support comprehensive internationalization activities at Emerson College with a primary focus on managing the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students in global education programs.

The Assistant Director of Global Programs and Student Advising serves as the primary student-facing administrator for students that interested in or are pursuing global programs at the College. This position is responsible for all marketing, promotion, and outreach for global education programs, including Kasteel Well, Emerson Los Angeles, Berklee Valencia, Exchange Programs, Global Pathways, and Global Portals with a goal of increasing both awareness and enrollment. To achieve this goal, the Assistant Director will create and maintain an annual series of events and engagement activities that highlight Internationalization & Equity to the campus community, including a Study Abroad Fair, International Education Week, tailored informational sessions, and participation in collaborations such as Open House and Picture Yourself at Emerson. This position will serve as the primary student advisor for program-related questions and manage all application cycles via the online platform. They will aid in the retention of students in programs via the promotion of scholarship opportunities, passport workshops, visa support, and personalized advising.

This position is anticipated to be a highly visible entity on the campus and will be required to primarily work in person with the option for some hybrid/remote work throughout the year.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Marketing/Recruitment

• Engage with students on campus to raise awareness of the programs
• Create and manage an annual series of marketing and recruitment activities for IE's portfolio of
• education abroad programs, as well as other general and/or tailored informational sessions
• Employ social media or other digital content strategies to attract and increase enrollment across programs.

Application Management

• Manage routine application tasks within the online application portal,
• Maintain program information and offerings as well as opening and closing of application cycles,
• and responding to/troubleshooting application questions.

Student Advising

• Serve as the first point of contact for student advising regarding all education abroad program options, holding both appointment-based and open-door office hours.
• Have a working knowledge of programs and classes offered abroad.
• Give students direction on which program would suit them best.

Visa Support

• Aid in working with students regarding passport and visa requirements for their selected program(s).
• Support students through the visa application process by generating visa letters and/or representing groups of students in batch processing of students in batch processing of visas, particularly for Spain and France.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.

• Master's Degree in an academic discipline
• 3-5 years of experience in a higher education setting with a focus on international or intercultural education.
• Experience advising college students.
• Demonstrated background in creating and disseminating marketing collateral and using multiple platforms to create successful campus events and programs.

• Experience working with faculty regarding education abroad programming.
• Experience working with student leaders.
• Experience managing financial or budgetary information related to international education.
• Ability to navigate different systems to make data-driven decisions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Continuing to engage in professional development activities and resources preferred.

Compensation

Starting annual salary for this position will be between: $54,274 - $66,486 commensurate with experience.

Grade of Position: S-23-07E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
