Job Description:

The Fulbright Program seeks a Social Media Manager who is passionate about creating engaging and on-trend social media content to highlight the Fulbright Program’s impact in the United States and globally. This role is responsible for leading day-to day planning, content creation and management across Fulbright’s social media channels.

The Fulbright Program is the flagship international exchange program of the U.S. Department of State. The Social Media Manager ensures that our voice, tone and engagement are representative of the Fulbright Program’s brand and standards.

Key characteristics of a successful candidate includes expertise in writing and storytelling for social media, editorial experience, superior attention to detail, enthusiasm for data and a passion for graphic design.

Essential Functions:

Plan and implement the Fulbright Program’s social media annual calendar in consultation with the program’s sponsor, the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State (ECA).

In accordance with the social media calendar, create, manage and execute social media content, plans and specific campaigns across social media channels including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Develop and execute ideas for soliciting new content, such as outreach to key alumni constituencies, program stakeholders, current program participants and institutions of higher learning that are involved in the successful administration of the Fulbright Program.

Copywrite and copy edit content, utilizing multiple sources to verify accuracy of information.

Create graphics, animations and video content to support different social medial campaigns and events.

Collaborate with members of the Fulbright Outreach/Recruitment and Events team to bring social media campaigns and content to life.

Track, and analyze engagement and performance across channels, suggesting and making real-time improvements.

Make actionable recommendations and insights to shape social media strategy.

Maintain familiarity with latest social media and digital best practices trends.

Other duties as assigned.

The Institute of International Education (“IIE”) has a hybrid work environment that allows team members a combination of in-office work and telework at any of the locations listed above.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants are required to include a PDF portfolio or web link showcasing their social media/communications work to be considered for this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Prior experience with successfully managing brand presence via social media campaigns and strategies required.

Experience with copywriting and copy editing for social media required.

Experience with creating graphics, animations and videos for social media required.

Experience with a social media scheduling system.

Experience using and curating content in a digital asset management system.

Experience working with U.S. government agencies or programs is highly desired.

Interest in international education and higher ed community preferred.

Ability to organize and handle a large volume of work under severe time constraints and pressures.

Meticulous attention to detail, ability to multi-task seamlessly and collaborative attitude.

Salary Range: $60,547 - $70,386. A candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
