Job Summary:

The Admissions Regional Recruiter (remote with occasional in-person meetings) will serve as a primary touchpoint for prospective students at recruitment fairs to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University (OPSU). The recruiter will develop relationships with local and regional high schools and community colleges to attract and recruit first-time freshmen and transfer students. In addition, the recruiter will identify recruitment targets and design strategies to meet/exceed these targets. While this is a remote position, the Admissions Regional Recruiter will be required to occasionally travel to OPSU for in-person meetings.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve, promote and represent the University by being the primary point of contact for prospective students, families and counselors.
  • Demonstrate self-direction, creativity and strategic thinking in prospect development, yield enhancement activities, information services and problem resolution.
  • Discuss policies/procedures required for admission, housing, scholarships/financial aid with prospective students, families and counselors.
  • Proactively anticipate student needs and respond appropriately.
  • Conduct trend analysis for an assigned territory; formulate action plans based on analysis. Work in conjunction with leadership to integrate the results of analysis and planning into the University's overall enrollment plan.
  • Determine strategies for effective outreach for an assigned territory; develop and initiate communication/activities to accomplish enrollment goals, including but not limited to outreach via email, texting, telephone and visits.
  • Assist with promptly responding to chat on OPSU website and Element451; Conduct timely follow-ups with all inquiries by sending text messages, etc.; Exceed customer service expectations.
  • Participate in the development and execution of off-campus recruitment, conversion and yield activities/events designed to market Oklahoma Panhandle State University to prospective freshman (and transfer) students.
  • Participate in the development of the university recruiting plan. Create a recruitment plan that includes using SMART goals and targets.
  • Occasionally travel to OPSU for in-person meetings.
  • Travel (in-state and out-of-state) away is required from campus multiple times per month as well as weekend activities and overnight stays. Must be able to travel to the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandle region Oklahoma and to south Colorado.
  • Ability to lift 30 to 45 lbs. (boxes of recruiting materials).
  • Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
  • Must be able to lift more than 50-lb. objects; frequent bending, stooping, and walking.
  • Can be exposed to a variety of weather conditions for periods of time.
  • Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Admissions or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

Must have valid driver's license. Must be comfortable with speaking in small groups and in one-on-one sessions. Must exhibit excitement about OPSU.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Required: Associate degree required. Must have valid driver's license.

Preferred: Experience in higher education is desired. Bilingual in oral and written communication is preferred.
