Coordinator for International Student Records
Rivier University is looking to hire a Coordinator for International Student Records to be part of our Office of Global Engagement team. Reporting to the Director of Global Engagement, the Coordinator, International Student Records is responsible for maintaining F1 students’ Students Exchange Visitors Information Systems (SEVIS) records and ensuring Rivier University’s compliance with its F1 visa students and dependents. The coordinator provides all SEVIS-related support to international students, including advising on immigration-related matters applicable to each student’s status. (e.g., OPT, STEM, CPT, travel, etc.). The coordinator serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) in Rivier University’s F1 program and the primary contact responsible for I-20 issuance and other SEVIS-related matters.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the university’s SEVIS database to ensure compliance with the regulations, including timely I-20 issuance, enrollment registration, reporting changes of employers, addresses, and other reportable SEVIS actions within SEVP’s Reporting Guidelines.
  • Keep track of all F1 students’ records throughout the semester to ensure compliance with registration.
  • In collaboration with the SEVIS Coordinator and Academic Advisor, advise the international students of situations ranging from immigration issues to personal concerns, emergencies, conflicts, and problems affecting SEVIS records.
  • Manage, process, and assist all students with CPT, OPT, and OPT STEM applications/ authorization following USCIS regulations and school policies.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students and contribute to a welcoming community for all international students on campus.
  • Stay abreast of regulations and procedures in international education.
  • Knowledge of FERPA requirements for privacy and security of applicant and student information.
  • Perform other student services duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident of the United States of America to serve as a DSO.
  • Enthusiasm about working with international students, advising, and ability to use complex software platforms and social media is preferred.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in international education, including knowledge of and experience with U.S. federal regulations governing nonimmigrant visa categories, focusing on F-1 (student) and SEVIS compliance, are preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the university, its mission, goals, and objectives in promoting globalization efforts on campus.
  • Effective problem-solving skills demonstrated the ability to take the initiative and be detail oriented.
  • Experience working in or with diverse constituencies.
  • Evidence of strong organizational abilities and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Expertise in database management and Microsoft Office 365 applications.
