:

Responsible for representing and promoting Massasoit Community College to prospective students, including and especially those from underrepresented populations, parents and support persons, school and agency counselors, business and professional partners and others within an assigned geographic recruitment territory. Assists the Director of Admissions in the development and execution of recruitment strategies designed to meet admissions goals. Assists Director with the planning and implementation of recruitment and enrollment events (i.e. Open Houses, One-Stop Enrollment programs, etc.), development of recruitment materials, and coordination and processing of admissions applications.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Assist in making the presence of the College, its programmatic and support service offerings as well as financial aid opportunities known to prospective traditional and non-traditional students, including underrepresented and first-generation college students within an assigned geographic territory.
  • Cultivate partnerships and strengthen working relationships with various community agencies and business partners; develop outreach activities to reach target recruitment populations.
  • Perform admissions functions for the campuses including attending college fairs and nights, participate in community-based events, conduct on-site admissions events as well as day, evening and weekend information sessions, and classroom presentations.
  • Provide academic advising for assigned student advisees each semester, as well as at New Student Orientation and other enrollment events.
  • Coordinate the college admission process for assigned competitive entry programs including advising prospective students on admission and program requirements through individual appointments and group information sessions; liaise with department chairs and program coordinators; reviews transcripts and supporting application materials, determine eligibility, acceptance, or rejection of applicants.
  • Provide both in-person and virtual enrollment service counseling to prospective students, parents, secondary school and agency counselors including assistance with the admission process, financial aid application process, general career and academic advising; promotes statewide initiatives associated with MassTransfer.
  • Provide referrals to placement testing, advising and counseling, Access & Disability Resources, Veterans Services, ESL, New Student Orientation and other college support services as appropriate.
  • Collect data and assist in maintaining statistics on the success of various marketing & recruitment events, including data pertaining to underrepresented student enrollment.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974) in order to explain this regulation, as needed, to students, parents, faculty and staff; reads literature, attends conferences and workshops to enhance and continue professional development in areas related to college admissions, recruitment and student success.
  • Participate in development and administration of campus policies and procedures.
  • Produce a monthly report (as directed) to summarize activities in the community and on campus.
  • Serve on college committees.
  • Perform other duties as required to enhance success of students and college initiatives.

Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Business Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Education, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field; with two (2) years of experience and/or training that includes college admissions, recruitment, academic counseling/advisement, marketing, public relations, credit evaluation; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to access to higher education and diversity.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
  • Ability to work early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends
  • Experience working in a student information and data management systems such as Banner, Peoplesoft, Datatel or Jenzabar; experience with ARGOS and DegreeWorks or similar software.
  • Bilingual; Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean Creole, Spanish, French, or Portuguese.
  • Previous experience within a community college setting.

Additional Information:

Position Status: Full-time benefited Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) position of Senior Admissions Counselor. For classification specification details please follow this link: https://www.mass.edu/forfacstaff/classificationspecs/home.asp.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday; requires some early mornings, nights and weekends. This position may be eligible for telework in accordance with the College's telework policy.

Salary: $52,753 - $59,189 Grade 4. Salary is commensurate with education, experience and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
