The Coordinator of International Student Engagement (ISE) is a critical member of the International Programs department at Louisiana State University. The position works closely with the Director of Global Partnerships in providing support, community, and advocacy on behalf of international students. The Coordinator assists in designing and delivering comprehensive programming aiming to better facilitate students’ academic and cultural experience at LSU. This position executes international student orientation in collaboration with the Director and International Programs staff and reports directly to the Director of GP. 

Job Responsibilities:

International Student Support: In collaboration with the Director of GP, International Programs staff, and academic colleges, fully executive a comprehensive international student orientation for both undergraduate and graduate students. Work with the Director of GP to offer pre-arrival orientation for international students. In collaboration with the Director of GP and campus partners, develop academic and co-curricular programming that aims to fully integrate international students into the LSU community. Assist the Director in designing and delivering inter-cultural and leadership programming. 50%

International Cultural Center: Manage day-to-day tasks of the International Cultural Center (ICC), including setting up the space for programming, events, etc. Oversee space rentals for student programming and Baton Rouge community rentals. Facilitate and simplify the rental process for student groups and community members. Work with the Director of GP to raise the Center’s profile as a programming and inter-cultural space. Assist in fostering and maintaining outstanding donor relations vis a vis the ICC. 30%

Marketing and Communications: Assist the Director of GP in promoting internationalization and inter-cultural competence at the university-wide level. In collaboration with the Director of GP and the Communications and Marketing Specialist, implement strategies to promote facility rentals in the Baton Rouge community. Work with the Director and the Communications and Marketing Specialist to revamp IP’s communications strategies for programming purposes.  15%

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of progressive experience working with international students

Minimum Certifications/Licenses: Valid Drivers License Required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with program development in a University setting. Experience in marketing. International education experience.

Additional Requirements:

Vehicle Operation - University employees whose principal responsibilities of employment include operating a vehicle, performing maintenance on a vehicle, or supervising any public employee who operates or maintains a vehicle and positions with an expectation to travel will require an MVR and are subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

FERPA - As with all LSU employees, due to this position title and/or responsibilities, this position has an obligation to assist students in the acquisition of necessary services. Should a student appear in need of or seek assistance with issues of an emotional, behavioral, or mental health related matter they should be referred to the proper service within the Student Health Center. In situations where the student creates an impression that they are a danger to themselves or others, the advisor should immediately contact the Care Team, the Dean of Students or the appropriate law enforcement agency. The employee outside of those rights contained within FERPA should create no impression of client or patient confidentiality.

Additional Information:

Occasional evening, holiday, or weekend hours. The Coordinator must be available for early morning and/or evening programs and special circumstances that may arise. The Coordinator must be eligible to drive as needed on official University business.
