Punahou School is actively recruiting a Testing Specialist to join the Admission team. In partnership with a team of faculty, staff, and administrators, the Testing Specialist supports the overall goals of school admissions and student economic diversity, and serves as a member of the Admissions Committee. As a key member of the Admissions team, the Testing Specialist is responsible for administering, scoring, evaluating, and interpreting the standardized tests and assessments given to kindergarten - 3rd grade applicants, under the supervision of the Admissions Testing Specialist Lead. This individual is part of an energetic, dynamic and mission-driven team that plays a key role in the recruitment, admission, and enrollment of a diverse, highly qualified student body and in shaping first impressions and the ongoing experiences of families throughout the admission process. The Testing Specialists essentials duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Administers tests annually (from September to April) to kindergarten through 3rd grade applicants.
  • Scores, interprets, assesses, and analyzes results of tests and assessments; prepares individual profiles and reports results to Testing Specialist Lead and Director of Enrollment Management and Admissions in a timely manner.
  • Keeps accurate documentation of each applicant assessment given and writes individual assessment reports daily.
  • Observes group assessments as needed.
  • May serve as a member of an admission committee and participates in the admission process.Conducts parent calls with applicant families as needed.
  • Conducts research and performs special projects. Analyzes data and prepares reports at the request of the Testing Specialist Lead and Director of Enrollment
  • Management and Admissions to help with the planning, assessment, and development of strategic admission issues.
  • Interprets tests and assessment instruments for/to/with administration and faculty.
  • Supports the overall goals for school admissions.

Scheduling Details:
  • School Year: 2022-2023
  • Work Year: 9 or 10.5 months
  • Work Hours: 7:30AM - 4:00PM, Monday - Friday, after hours work may be required

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, counseling, or speech and occupational therapy. Master’s degree preferred.
  • One (1) year of experience working with preschool and/or elementary age children.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and write reports of testing and observations in a timely manner.
  • Experience in delivering psychological or educational assessments strongly preferred.
  • Experience teaching in a pre-kindergarten or lower elementary setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current literature, trends, methods, developments, and ethics in standardized testing.
  • Experience writing educational or clinical reports preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications (Word, Excel), email (Gmail), Google docs and the Internet.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem solving skills
