Job Details

Provide specialized immigration advising and cross-cultural assistance to Temple University’s and Temple Health System’s international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status. 

Specific duties include, but are not limited to, those listed here:

Prepare, review, and/or submit to the relevant federal agency (Department of State and Department of Homeland Security) immigration documentation on behalf of international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status, respectively;

Create and maintain SEVIS records for international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) status;

Create and maintain files and public access records for international scholars in Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status;

Advise international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status on an individual basis on immigration, financial, academic and personal matters;

Meet with international scholars during scheduled appointments;

Develop and deliver new international scholar orientation [mandatory for individuals in Exchange Visitor (J-1) status;

Assist in creating and maintaining office handouts in the office, particularly those relevant to international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1)  and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status;

Serve as a Designated School Officer (Department of Homeland Security) and an Alternate Responsible Officer (Department of State);

Serve as liaison between University and Department of State (DOS) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS);

Serve as liaison to Temple hiring units in matters related to international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status;

Serve as liaison to the Office of Human Resources concerning international scholars in Exchange Visitor (J-1) and Nonimmigrant Worker (including H-1B, O-1, and TN) status;

Remain informed of any and all new DOS and USCIS regulations concerning international scholars and employees and advise colleagues and supervisors of any changes; and

Contribute to the team effort by accepting additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Assistant Vice President, or Vice Provost for Global Engagement.
