The Sonoco International Business Department, Darla Moore Schoolof Business, University of South Carolina is seeking a candidatefor an open-rank, professional track clinical faculty position ininternational business, to begin August 16, 2023.

The position requires either a doctoral degree in internationalbusiness or a related field (plus the requisite number of years ofrelevant experience as provided by academic policy, depending onrank) or a master’s degree in a business-related field plus atleast 6 years of international industry experience (for the rank oflecturer), plus competencies and expertise to teach effectivelyboth undergraduate and graduate courses in international business.Specialty areas of particular interest include global marketingmanagement, including topics such as foreign market entry strategy,B2B global marketing, social marketing in developing economies,digital marketing in global business, etc., coupled with, ideally,regional or country expertise, industry expertise, and/or designthinking expertise. All courses taught will be international incontent. Specific courses may be thematic or functional focused,and may also include short-term study abroad programs. While thisposition focuses primarily on teaching, service and outreachactivities will also be an important part of the role. Professional engagement, consulting projects, and/or researchactivities to maintain the appropriate faculty qualificationsstatus within the AACSB framework are expected.

The primary objective of the Sonoco International BusinessDepartment is to maintain its leading role in the development ofhigh impact theory and research on global business. The departmentis unified by its interest in understanding the multinationalenterprise and the sociopolitical and institutional context withinwhich it is embedded. The department includes faculty with diversedisciplinary backgrounds. The department faculty include: GeraldMcDermott (Chair), Joao Albino-Pimentel, Elisa Alvarez-Garrido,Dirk Brown, Nancy Buchan, Ken Erickson, Omrane Guedhami, DavidHudgens, April Knill, Tatiana Kostova, Chuck Kwok, Sali Li,Stanislav Markus, Wolfgang Messner, Daniel Ostergaard, KendallRoth, Andrew Spicer, Hildy Teegen, Marc van Essen, and ChristopherYenkey. The department faculty is consistently recognized as themost productive faculty in international business research (UTDallas, JIBS) for the past 30+ years.

The Department offers an undergraduate international businessmajor that has been ranked #1 for 24 consecutive years, andcollaborative undergraduate international programs with ChineseUniversity of Hong Kong, Universidad de Chile (FEN), ESSEC BusinessSchool, American University in Cairo, and a multi-undergraduateeducation alliance with ESSEC-Singapore, University of Mannheim,and FGV-EBAPE. Our flagship International MBA has been ranked inthe top 3 international business programs in the country in thelast 33 years. The department also offers a Master in InternationalBusiness (MIB) program that includes dual degree options with otherprominent universities including: Aalto University, Bocconi(Italy), ESCP-Paris (France), University of Mannheim (Germany),Shanghai Jiao Tong (China), and Koc University (Turkey). The MIBprogram has been recently ranked in the top 50 in the world by theFinancial Times for Masters of Management programs.
