The University of Alaska Anchorage is seeking a director for a gathering and student services space serving and supporting Alaska Native and Indigenous students, known as Native Student Services. This central unit serves as a gathering space for holistic student support where students have access to diverse forms of student support including admissions, financial aid, academic mentoring and support, peer mentors, tutors, faculty, and campus programmers. The director will bring new leadership, vision, integrity and a highly collaborative and team- oriented philosophy to improve Native/Indigenous student access, retention, persistence and graduation. The director will cultivate an environment that demonstrates UAA's commitment to creating a culturally appropriate, inclusive environment at UAA where Native students feel a sense of welcoming and belonging and thrive. The position is responsible for developing and implementing a cohesive approach comprising identified evidence-based best practices that improve overall student and institutional outcomes, such as peer-to- peer advising and mentoring, faculty mentoring, and academic support programs.
