Education Abroad and Overseas Campuses serve as the central unit responsible for promoting and facilitating education abroad at Temple University. Education Abroad administers academic year, semester, and summer study abroad programs hosted by Temple's overseas campuses in Rome, Italy, and Tokyo, Japan; offered through exchange and other institutional partners around the globe; and developed and led by Temple faculty members. Enrolling and serving an average of 1100 Temple and non-Temple students a year, the Education Abroad team is committed to providing transformative global learning experiences that prepare the diverse students from Temple and our U.S. partner institutions to develop as engaged global citizens, collective problem-solvers, and leaders in their chosen field.

The Education Abroad Program Manager manages the day-to-day operations of his/her assigned program(s), including recruitment, admissions, pre-departure, student course registration, health and safety, and evaluation. The incumbent reviews applications for assigned programs and makes admission decisions, manages the visa application processes for students, coordinates with administrators and faculty regarding curricular issues, processes and tracks all pre-departure forms and documents, guides students through regular liaises and pre-departure processes, and regularly liaises with program leaders and/or on-site program staff. The incumbent identifies and resolves problems related to their programs and students.

Reporting to the Associate Director for Programming and Student Support, the Program Manager participates in the promotion of international education across the university and at partner institutions and attends special events. Supports general office functions, including general study abroad and scholarship advising and recruitment/outreach for all Education Abroad administered/approved programs.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of experience in higher education, preferably in an international programs office. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to student service and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
  • Demonstrated professionalism with the ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to make presentations to small and large audiences.
  • Must be organized, detail-oriented, and possess problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stay focused while managing constant interruptions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Advise students of diverse backgrounds and identities to study abroad and guide them through the program selection process and preparation for their education abroad experience.
  • Manage the review of all program applications and make admissions decisions for all applicants, including determining eligibility and checking for prerequisites.
  • Liaise with students daily, ensuring high service and support for individualized needs. Communicate with students and families through various mediums regarding academic and personal matters, including admissions processes, program and course selections, credits, grades, health and disability needs, identity, travel, immigration, housing, and pre-departure preparations.
  • Participate in at least 3-5 events outside business hours annually.
  • Participate in study abroad recruitment events as needed internally at Temple and externally at other universities around the U.S.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Preferred:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience working with students in higher education.
  • Experience with Terra Dotta and Banner.
  • International experience, living or studying abroad.

This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
