Vice President for Student Affairs

An independent, highly selective, coeducational institution of approximately 2,700 students, Lafayette College (PA) is seeking an innovative and accomplished educator to be its next Vice President of the Division of Student Life. The Vice President will join a team of experienced and committed professionals focused on providing the best student experience for the College's diverse, creative, and engaged student body.

The Vice President will be responsible for overseeing all areas of student life including health and counseling services, residence life, student involvement, intercultural development, religious life, student advocacy and prevention, student conduct, case management, and the Gateway Career Center. Working directly with Nicole F. Hurd, the College's 18th President, a passionate advocate for student access and success, this cabinet-level appointment will afford an unprecedented opportunity for a dynamic leader to provide vision and direction to the student experience at Lafayette College.

The Vice President for Student Life will be an experienced, student-centered, energetic, and innovative leader who shares the College's vision of a holistic student learning experience within which access and inclusion are central to achieving the College's mission. Applicants must also possess the vision, integrity, energy, and decisiveness necessary to develop and lead teams and embrace forward-thinking strategies aimed toward creating a residential learning experience that complements the aspects of Lafayette College that make it unique among other liberal arts colleges in its peer group.

Candidates will ideally possess a Ph.D., Ed.D. or related terminal degree and have demonstrated 10+ years of increasingly responsible experience in student life in higher education, have direct experience building and motivating an effective team, including direct experience in recruiting, selecting, supervising, coaching, retaining, and providing growth opportunities for a diverse staff. Candidates will have demonstrated the ability to foster change management and program improvement using methods informed by data, creativity, and innovation, and demonstrated a record of success working in a highly collegial environment with faculty, staff, and community constituencies. Candidates will be able to articulate knowledge and understanding of how issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion impact students, particularly those from marginalized communities, and how these issues manifest in building community, belonging, and student health and well-being and will have direct budget planning and management experience.

All applications, nominations and inquiries are invited. Applications should include, as separate documents, a CV or resume and a letter of interest addressing the themes in the leadership profile found at www.wittkieffer.com. WittKieffer is assisting Lafayette in this search. For fullest consideration, candidate materials should be received by June 1, 2023. The appointment begins in the summer of 2023. Application materials should be submitted using WittKieffer's candidate portal.

Nominations and inquiries can be directed to: Sheila Murphy, Charlene Aguilar and Jenna Brumleve.
