The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Under the leadership and direction of the Senior Associate Dean for Enrollment Management, the Assistant Dean of Admissions is responsible for providing strategic leadership, vision, oversight, and coordination of a centralized recruitment and admissions program for all degree programs (full-time MBA; Executive MBA; MS, PhD and all future degree programs). The Assistant Dean assumes a major role in decision making and policy formulation and building a balanced class that represents the school's priorities in different areas. The Assistant Dean manages the admission of all degree applicants from first contact to matriculation, including recruiting, student communications, and application processing, review, and decision-making. The Assistant Dean is responsible for the oversight of a team of 20+ professionals. The Assistant Dean is a member of the senior enrollment management team.

Responsibilities

Development and application of major policy decisions for the entire admissions process to ensure that all policies support institutional goals and align with institutional and Federal guidance. Strategy for achieving application and enrollment targets for all degree programs. Working closely with Director of Recruitment, maintain the highest standards and procedures for recruitment, assess the effectiveness and return on investment of various recruitment and yield initiatives. Liaison with the Marketing and Communications department to develop effective marketing strategies. Collaborate with the Director of Recruitment and Director of Degree Marketing to develop comprehensive plans to communicate with prospective national and international students throughout the enrollment funnel. Strategic oversight of the Admissions process including by not limited to running Admissions committee, reading applications, and providing status communication to applicants. Maintain Columbia Business School's competitive advantage and diverse student body by creating a strategy for obtaining and evaluating critical data on individual candidates, building a balanced class that represents the School's priorities. Work collaboratively with the Director of Operations to oversee processing and evaluating of applications for admissions, which includes the candidate interviews, reader training, administration, and process monitoring. Responsible for the security and confidentiality of applicant information, and detailed analysis and accuracy of data for various reports throughout the year. Ensure the efficient processing of admission applications by developing and administering policies, procedures, and systems that provide quality admission services for prospective students. Represents Columbia Business School and the Admissions Office to various institutional divisions as well as externally to media, students, and the public. Collaborates with the Assistant Dean for Financial Aid to develop and implement an effective fellowship strategy that maximizes use of funding in support of the mission of the school. Effectively manage departmental budget to achieve short-term goals and position the office for strategic success. Leads admissions professionals in all facets of admissions, including training, hiring and evaluation. Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks. Ensure staff have professional development plans in place; provide and develop training opportunities, such as retreats, attendance to conferences, webinars for the ongoing training and development of staff. Perform other duties as required, as assigned by the Sr. Associate Dean of Enrollment Management.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred.

7-9 years experience in admissions and the administration of student services program essential. Must have strong strategic ability and creativity. Must have a collaborative leadership style, including supervisory experience. Should have an in-depth knowledge about, an understanding of all School course and degree/non-degree programs, other top business school's academic programs, admissions policies and procedures, in addition to a detailed knowledge of the professional requirements of corporations and industry.
