Summary/Objective This Assistant Director position is responsible for the recruitment and admission of freshman and transfer applicants from specific countries or regions outside the United States, including international recruitment travel, as well as evaluation of secondary and post-secondary transcripts and file review for freshman and transfer applications from any country outside the US as needed. This position is also responsible for assisting with the coordination and staffing of on-campus programs and online events for prospective students. Essential Functions

  1. Reads and evaluates applications for undergraduate admission; makes decisions or refers to either the Director of International Admissions or Assistant Vice Provost of Admissions.
  2. Communicates with prospective international (non-US) and US Global Nomad students, parents, alumni and school counselors from the designated countries of overseas travel, conducts outreach to this population as well as to any students inquiring or applying from around the world. Serves as a liaison with another office/department on-campus or serves as the key contact person of a defined population such as International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), AU Diplomats, School of International Service (SIS)-Risumeikan, or students that wish to defer admission.
  3. Conducts international recruitment travel/virtual outreach within specific countries or a defined recruitment region outside the U.S.; travels to regions/countries and independently organizes high school visits, individual interviews, recruitment and conversion events and receptions, and other events as needed.
  4. Conducts on-campus information sessions and interviews for prospective students and their parents; gives overview of university programs/majors, student life and the admissions process.
  5. Analyzes, plans, organizes and implements all recruitment and admissions activities for undergraduate students in a defined international recruitment region or in specific countries; analyzes previous year’s activities and develops a comprehensive itinerary for both fall and spring travel/visits/events involving outreach to prospective students, parents, high school counselors, alumni and others.
  6. Finalizes airline, hotel, and car rental reservations for travel and completes expense reports.
