POSITION TITLE:Student Services DirectorREPORTS TO: Chief of Human Resources and Student ServicesBEGINNING DATE:Open Until Filled
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months
SALARY: State Salary Schedule for Central Office Administration
FLSA Status: Exempt
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides district level leadership for student services functions Facilitates student school assignment processes Work to implement strategies and solutions to both school level and district level concerns Engage in effective de-escalation and conflict resolution strategies with all members of the school community Facilitate and convey resolutions to parent and community issues Work closely and cooperatively with the lead school nurse, lead school social worker, and lead school counselor to implement and improve district student services Review and evaluate potential programs and strategies for promoting student well-being and academic success Provide leadership for the implementation of the district mental health plan Respond to parent concerns Serve as a member of the Human Resources and Student Services Leadership Team Serve as the school district's representative on the Strategic Opioid Advanced Response Team (SOAR) and other similar community based committees Serve as the district's Title IX Coordinator Implement, facilitate, and monitor a mentoring program for student services personnel Create and maintain a resource file for school administrators Assist with recruitment and retention of student services personnel, including facilitating cohorts for those training for a student services role Assist with general human resource functions as needed Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with school leadership, district leadership, and the community
- Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships
- Ability to engage in effective de-escalation and conflict resolution strategies with all members of the school community
- Ability to represent the school system in a positive fashion to a variety of audiences
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
- Proficiency with current technology
- Working knowledge of North Carolina School Law and Local Board of Education Policies
- Ability to prepare accurate documents and reports
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
- Current North Carolina Educator License as a School Administrator required
- Minimum three to five years of experience as a public school leader
- Successful experience as a school-based administrator preferred
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 months

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand, sit, or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely.
- Ability to bend, stoop, carry, push, or pull.
- Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds routinely and 30 pounds occasionally.
- Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students.
- Must be able to drive to variety of school sites.
