Position Summary: The International Student Coordinator is responsible for guiding international students through the admissions and enrollment process and advising students throughout their tenure at the University.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Advise international students, prospective and continuing, on complex immigration regulations, including school transfers, reinstatements, employment authorization, and change of status, keeping detailed records of all processes while ensuring that the University follows required protocols
  • Fulfill supplemental responsibilities to meet recruitment and retention goals
  • Meet with international student applicants to provide information about admissions and guidance throughout the admissions process
  • Coordinate and develop handouts, workshops, email correspondence, web information, and other materials to effectively communicate information to students
  • Provide excellent customer service to both incoming and current international students
  • Collect immigration documents from applicants and issue initial attendance I-20s for new F-1 students, along with necessary visa information and guidance, as well as coordinate all admissions processes for international students
  • Assist in planning and implementing orientation programs for new international students, including the preparation of pre-arrival information, participation in Welcome Days, check-in, orientation sessions and programs to assist students in their ongoing adjustment to the University and to the U.S.
  • Counsel and assist enrolled international students on matters related to university life and the U.S. study experience, including finances, transportation, employment, health insurance, adjustment to the campus, and maintenance of student status
  • Advise International Student Organization and plan, promote and conduct student programs and activities involving international students, including, but not limited to, International Week

Qualifications:
  • A four-year college or university degree (Bachelors Degree) is required
  • 2-4 years of previous experience with non-immigrant visas and programming for international students preferred
  • Experience with copy editing and social media preferred
  • DHS requires that a Designated School Official is a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident

Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to self-start and self-initiate projects, while also being effective in working in a collaborative fashion
  • Excellent verbal and written cross-cultural communication skills with documented experience in public speaking and delivering presentations
  • Ability to operate office equipment (i.e., copiers, fax machines, etc.)
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of social media platforms, metrics and tracking
  • Computer skills including word processing, use of peripherals and web browser
  • Familiarity and experience working in spreadsheet based software i.e. Excel, Pages, Google Spreadsheets, OpenOffice etc.
  • Great attention to detail required
  • Self-starter; ability to problem-solve
  • Excellent Project management and organizational skills
  • Performs well with frequent interruptions and/or distractions
  • Extreme sensitivity to confidential matters

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift or move objects up to 25 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to sit frequently
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time occasionally
  • Ability to walk reasonable distances occasionally
  • Ability to bend or stoop occasionally
  • Ability to climb or reach overhead occasionally
  • Ability to communicate via speech, hearing and sight frequently
