Grays Harbor College is now accepting applications for a Dean of Student Success. The dean's primary responsibility is to develop and implement an integrated, collaborative, and holistic approach to the student experience, from first contact, through registration and entry advising to enrollment, and through to program/degree completion. We are looking for a dynamic leader with exceptional administrative, delegation, and organizational skills.

The dean serves as the strategic and operational champion that will support GHC's students in reaching their educational and career goals through implementation of a high-touch, proactive, approach to student outreach, retention, and completion. The dean also serves as the College's Title IX Coordinator.

The dean will work closely with academic deans and student services directors to offer holistic student supports and implement strategic and sustained interventions that have measurable outcomes to ensure student learning. The dean is an innovative and forward-thinking leader who utilizes a student-first approach to data-informed decision-making, and views services and resources as interconnected tools to create a student-centered culture.

The student services division is fast-paced, high-energy, with work-intensive schedules including travel, weekends and evening work during peak periods. The dean is an active member of the campus community, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties, and reports to the Vice President of Student Services.

Full-time employees will also receive 15.34 hours of vacation leave per month, 8 hours of sick leave per month and 4 personal leave days a year. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership direction, strategic planning and supervision for: Admissions & Entry Services, Dual Credit/Enrollment, Student Life, Multicultural Student Services, Advising, Transfer and Career Services and Workforce Funding & Support Programs.
  • Implement an integrated, collaborative and holistic approach to the delivery of student support services, student onboarding and the student experience.
  • Work with instructional and student services leadership to implement evidence-based, and data-driven high impact practices and student success initiatives that are designed to recruit, retain and complete students.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the College's comprehensive enrollment management program, including market segmentation, promotional strategies, and recruitment tactics to achieve the college mission, vision, priorities and enrollment objectives
  • Stay current on trends and best practices in the delivery of student support services and be actively involved in issues that impact student services and students, with the goal of making the college a leader in high-quality student services delivery models
  • Serve as a co-chair of the Guided Pathways implementation team and lead the on-going management and administration of the Guided Pathways workplan in collaboration with instructional leadership.
  • Ensures the student support services and programs meet the current, changing and future needs of students and community. This includes but is not limited to; student basic needs and mental health services.
  • Develop student focused partnerships with key enrollment partners; collaborate with education, social and public service, and health industry partners to enhance opportunities to work together on initiatives that improve educational access and student success
  • Maintain, analyze, and interpret data to identify opportunities and develop strategies to advance academic achievement, educational access and student success
  • Develop a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach for responding to and reviewing student behavioral concerns and provide a coordinated and collaborative response to address the concerns and support the students and college community. This includes, but is not limited to; behavioral intervention, coordinated care, student conduct and bias response teams.
  • Serves as the designated Title IX Coordinator for the campus. Ensure all compliance standards and reporting requirements are achieved and coordinates the college's review, investigation, and resolution of all reports of sexual discrimination and sexual misconduct when students are involved.
  • Oversees the implementation, ongoing expansion and vision of the College's student success management platform (EAB Navigate Core and CRM) used by student services staff and exercises leadership in the application of the software.
  • Serve as a member of the ctcLink implementation team and assist with the ongoing management and administration of the campus solutions pillar.
  • Use technology to compile, monitor, and analyze data related to student services to inform performance and continuous improvement efforts that align with College Priorities.
  • Continuously works to improve processes, procedures and policies related to student services division to improve delivery of services educational access and student success.
  • Monitor applicable department and project budgets to ensure compliance with budgetary requirements and plans
  • Compile and report on student enrollment statistics, program performance/outcomes and other required reports.
  • Represent GHC in the community, serve on campus committees, and participate at the state-level on related work groups, councils and professional development trainings.
  • Respond to campus emergencies as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Three years of student services leadership experience in higher education
  • Strong personnel management skills including the ability to manage multiple functions and organize resources to meet goals and objectives
  • Experience in budget oversight and financial management
  • Demonstrated experience in serving students, in collaboration with others, from diverse, low income, or academically challenged backgrounds
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and anti-racist education, programs and policies
  • Commitment to process monitoring and continuous process improvement in systems and services
  • Experienced technology user including enterprise level and desktop tools deployed to improve student affairs services

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in related field
  • Five (5) years or more of student services leadership experience in higher education
  • Experience with data tracking, analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and awareness of policies and laws affecting student affairs service areas
  • Awareness of Title IX trends, legal obligations, and regional/national initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience implementing student success programs involving multiple departments.
  • Strong background in and/or knowledge of strategic enrollment management processes
  • Experience in Student Services in the Washington State and Community and Technical College System
  • Experience with ctcLink/Peoplesoft
  • Bilingual
