Job Title
International and Multicultural Programs Coordinator
Nature of Work
Provide support to international and multicultural student populations; coordinate inclusive international and multicultural student programming; initiate and implement educational programs concerning issues centered around marginalized student communities; collaborate with Admissions to increase international students; and, serve as a retention specialist for underrepresented student populations.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Follow federal laws to ensure international student scholars are in complete compliance to maintain legal status.
2. Collaborate with Admissions to increase international student enrollment.
3. Collaborate with Director to actualize the WSC strategic goals to advance inclusive excellence, global engagement, and the recruitment/retention of multicultural and international students.
4. Serve as an advocate for multicultural/ international student concerns.
5. Provide leadership in developing and implementing transition programs for international students and provide opportunities for them to share their culture and contribute to the diversity efforts of WSC.
6. Support faculty and staff initiatives aimed at integrating multicultural and global experiences into teaching and learning.
7. Support academic advising for multicultural and international students utilizing Wildcat Online and Wildcat360.
8. Responsible for evening and weekend international and multicultural affairs programming and meetings with cultural organizations.
9. Serve as advisor to multicultural and international student organizations and clubs.
10. Coordinate the Wayne Community to friends of international students' group.
11. Serve as Wayne State College Designated School Official (DSO).
12. Fulfill other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree
• Three years related experience
• Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff
• Effective human relation skills
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of Department of Homeland Security and Department of State Regulations; and SEVIS
• Basic computer skills to include access and excel
