The University of Miami School of Law has a great opportunity for an Associate Director, Admissions to work at the Coral Gables Campus.

Position Summary: The Associate Director of Admissions plays a supporting role in the design, implementation, and execution of a comprehensive admission and recruitment strategic plan that meets the University's targeted enrollment goals. This position requires customer relationship management software expertise; excellent analytical and interpersonal skills; ability to use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in a professional setting; willingness to travel domestically; and the ability to use data to support the planning of outreach activities and events.

Reporting Relationship:

Reports to the Associate Dean of Admissions, Enrollment Management, and Financial Aid

CORE Job Functions:

Leads a team of admission professionals in developing recruitment strategies and planning. Creates a calendar of events in support of the recruitment strategy, including, but not limited to, information sessions, school visits, interviews, and webinars. Assesses strategy effectiveness to determine impact on enrollment and makes recommendations for improvement. Oversees a team of admission professionals in charge of executing admission and recruitment related programs. Assists with planning and coordinating all campus visit programs including daily information sessions, campus tours, open houses, and additional special events. Organizes and leads counseling sessions and workshops on the application and admissions process. Plays a lead role in managing the travel recruiting budget that will be necessary to implement targeted enrollment strategies. Analyzes enrollment reports from a variety of sources and makes recommendations. Conducts training sessions for department staff to assist in developing and accessing recruitment and marketing efforts. Performs employee evaluations of direct reports as well as salary recommendations. Assists in developing and updating University of Miami admissions publications. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.

Department Specific Functions:
  • Assists in the preliminary review process of incoming applications.
  • Develops and implements recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students and meet the enrollment needs of the University.
  • Represents Miami Law at regional and national events and to a wide range of constituents and venues.
  • Addresses questions and responds to inquiries from prospective students and applicants through various mediums.
  • Seeks out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students and pre-law advisors by participating in local, state, and national school events, law fairs, and community organizations.
  • Supports Miami Law's admissions and scholarship interview program.
  • Assists with diversity recruitment initiatives including coordinating outreach to minority-serving colleges and universities.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and makes recommendations for program changes and enhancements.
  • Compiles, assesses, and interprets student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, and market area trends, and reports findings as needed.
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
  • Provides individual counseling to prospective students and applicants regarding all aspects of the law school application process including admissions, financial aid, and scholarship processes.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the Office of Admissions' mass communications and marketing strategies.
  • Compiles and evaluates regular reports of email analytics and web analytics.
  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned by Associate Dean of Admissions.
  • This position doesn't have any supervisory functions.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree required; JD or master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of experience in admissions, student enrollment or a related field. Experience in a similar academic setting or marketing experience preferred.
  • Unite/ACES2 law school customer relationship management system expertise required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Ability and willingness to travel heavily during peak recruitment season and to incur travel expenses for reimbursement.
  • Ability and willingness to work on evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy in highly confidential and professional setting.
  • Ability to identify and use data to make decisions about recruiting initiatives.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in office characterized by high volume of applications, visitors, and emails.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and high expectations of productivity.

  • Strong proficiency with Unite or ACES2 required. Must be willing to learn new software as required.
