Job Details

The Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a full-time, exempt Program Manager for International Programs & Partnerships.  This is a full-time position that reports to the Assistant Dean and will provide essential services, special programs oversight, and leadership to Haslam's international programs, partnerships, and projects. 

International Programs & Partnerships along with the Office of International Programs and Study Abroad (IPSA) contribute to the development of a vibrant, new student engagement and success center, focused on enabling graduate and undergraduate students in the Haslam College of Business to achieve higher value-added educational outcomes, employment, career progression opportunities, and to develop their leadership potential and capabilities.  Additionally, the area of International Programs & Partnerships will contribute to faculty research and teaching opportunities.  The unit builds on existing global partnerships and external international relationships to create a new portfolio of multi-continent international programs and services. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee and the Haslam College of Business is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University.

The program manager will contribute to the development and oversight of strategies and processes that support the Haslam College of Business’ emergent plan for internationalization.  Responsibilities include annual program development and assessment, negotiation and contract preparation, oversight of special programs, scholarship organization and distribution, grants and administration.  They will coordinate with campus partners on programmatic requirements and student preparation, evaluation of student materials, facilitation of program preparation and delivery for graduate and executive education programs.  

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required in International Studies, Education, Business, Human Services or a related field. At least three years of experience working in international education, student services, academic advising, international engagement, or a related field.  Working knowledge of higher education global programs, standards, requirements and practices. Data representation and analytics skills, as well as excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage time effectively. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion while executing program goals, policies, and regulations.  Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with individuals from culturally-diverse backgrounds. Ability to interact with study abroad program representatives, faculty, and students in a professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality.  Demonstrated excellent written and oral formal/informal communication skills. Ability to communicate with international partners who are often non-native English speakers. Strong oral and written communication skills.  Ability to work periodic evening and weekend hours and to travel internationally.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree and/or terminal degree in International Studies, Education, Business, Human Services or a related field preferred. Public speaking experience. Experience living or studying abroad. Proficiency in a foreign language. Experience with academic and study abroad software such as Banner, TerraDotta, etc.
