TITLE: Director of Student Services

Valid Director of School Counseling certificate or certificate of eligibility. Demonstrated ability to effectively administer guidance counselor programs and to work with parents, community groups and agencies. Strong leadership and communication Required criminal history check and proof of S. citizenship or resident alien status.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Schools

The Director of Student Services directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services programs of the schools which include alternative education, grant funded programs, guidance services, Section 504 procedures; compliance with laws, codes, and regulations; evaluates assigned personnel; and performs related work as required.


Instructional Leadership
Directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services programs of the schools. Serves as a leader and general resource person in matters relating to student discipline and alternative education.

Alternative Education Programs
Provides direct oversight of the development and implementation of alternative education Facilitates enrollment of students into alternative programs and their return to regular Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of effective alternative programs for students at-risk.

Counseling Services

Provides direction, coordination, and guidance to school's counseling services and outside contracted services, as needed. Provides direction to assist in dropout prevention

Staff Supervision and Coordination
Assumes responsibility for the recruitment, assignment, supervision and evaluation of all certified

Contact with Parents and Community
Initiates, facilitates and maintains liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) months; tenurable

Annual Evaluation: Evaluated by the Assistant Superintendent, consistent with statute, code and collective negotiations agreement.
